Version reversed after upgrading

Hi all,
2 days ago I updated the kodi on my mom’s computer from 17.1 (that worked quite poorly) to 17.3
For some reason I had to configure everything from scratch, but did it anyway, and everything seemed to work well.
Today I remotely connected to her computer and found out that all the settings had gone, and the version got back to 17.1.
How could this be
