Well I guess that’s it: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues/28630. I tried doing what François told me with a W3C parser but I get hundreds of the same errors that I don’t understand (first “No blank line after the signature”, and when I add one “Cue identifier needs to be followed by timestamp” for every single line of the .vtt) so I guess that the .vtt is malformed, that’s just it.
