I moved from Kodi on an old Mac Mini to a Nvidia Shield TV Pro back in November 2020 but have only recently started to rip 4K blu-rays. Mediainfo says the mkv files are 4:2:0 10 bit HDR10. The Shield and Kodi are both set to 4:2:0 10 bit and my AVR (Pioneer LX305) says 4:2:0 10 bit when in Kodi menus. Actually it says 30 bit, but we know what it meant. When I play any of those ripped 4K’s in Kodi the AVR says 4:2:2 8 bit HDR10, which sounds weird, how do you have 8 bit HDR?
I’m still on the Kodi 19.4 I side-loaded when I setup the Shield. Is this a known problem with that version of Kodi, or is the AVR just lying about the format, the TV (S90C) is definitely in HDR10.
