My home entertainment system includes the latest AppleTV device and for a bunch of reasons I decided to stop trying to decode all the playback issues I have with that hardware and use something more universally known player (VLC). In addition I have NAS storage with a Synology DS214 that contains most of my TV and Movie content. The hard drives on that unit are 100% healthy. Recently I have attempted to play a few of the episodes but to my surprise a bunch of them have garbage file names when attempting to open them via the VLC player. When I browse to the files, they are intact original filenames!
So I guess my question is does VLC have some sort of aversion to file name syntax or length a la Windows? All the characters are valid for MacOS so I am baffled why VLC is doing this; looking for some feedback or answers or both
Thanks!
