First off thank you very much to the VLC dev team for having VCD (Video CD) functionality.
As someone involved in preserving hundreds of VCD discs, I would humbly ask VLC to extend it’s VCD compatibility to launching via bin/cue format (currently VLC requires mounting a disc image before use).
Worldwide, it’s not inconceivable to imagine over 100,000 unique VCD discs have been released. The format has spanned decades of popularity in Asia and third world countries in particular, with many unique cultural video artifacts not released in any other format.
Specifically, I would also encourage VLC to add support for multi-bin / cue (as generated by isobuster and redump.org preservation groups dumping apps), examples of such disc images for testing purpose can be found on archive.org with the search term “BMB Karaoke – CVD Series”.
I strongly believe this feature is important for future viability of playing archived VCD disc images.
