I’m using Kodi from few months as a sort of “music server”, so i could listen to my cloud music both on computers (thanks to the shared MariaDB) and on smartphone (with Tolriq’s Symfonium).
I saw digging on the forum, the old todo list from Montellese on Json-Rpc section Montellese Todo List and there are some interesting things like for example the Refresh NFO apis.
This kind of apis could be useful for example for launching nfo scraping through python scripts after generating an artist or album nfo.
I would code it but sadly c++ isn’t among my mastered languages 
PS: in my opinion that todo list could be examinated because it has some interesting features to implement on the rpc/db side
