Strange issue with Video freezing….followed by audio.

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all doing well.

I have a bit of a problem with my setup. It is an Amazon Firestick 4K max device, running Kodi 21.1.0. The installation was perfectly smooth with no anomalies.

Using I have a number of movies sharing using basic Windows sharing on my file server. Kodi is able to successfully connected and authenticate, and I can see all my files and folders with no issues.

Whilst I haven’t played every movie in the library, I have played a large number of them (50+), and this far have run into an odd problem with two of them.

They will play for a certain amount of time (one for about 4:20, the other for about 10:00), and then the video will just freeze. The audio continues on for another minute or so, and then it will stop too. Oddly, the timer for the movie will continue on as if nothing is wrong, and will happily go all the way to the end of the movie. This means no errors in the error logs.

I’ve tried connecting through both SMB and nfs, both with the same result.

Strangely, in another room, I have a raspberry pi running Kodi (same version), and I’ve compared all settings across both with no differences. The Rapsberry Pi plays the two offending files with no issues at all.

I’ve also tried copying the offended files to a USB and running them directly from the Firestick…….same problem (eliminating network issues).

I’ve read through a bunch of posts here that appear similar, but none of the fixes in them seem to have helped (cache sizes, chunk sizes etc).

So…..I’m looking for any potential ideas or solutions this team may be able to provide.

Thanks!

Dave
