iOS iPhone 15 pro USB drive access

I searched but couldn’t find any information on this topic. I installed kodi and it seems to be working fine on my ios17 iPhone 15 pro. I have media on an external flash drive that I can access fine through the file app on the iPhone but I can’t figure out how to get at it from Kodi. Anyone with experience in this ?
