Kodi missing metadata even though files are named correctly

Hi All,  running kodi on nvidia shield. Works great.  I have around 3500 movies(mkv) that are served up via samba shares.  I noticed recently that when I set up a new shield, added media locations and letting the python scraper do it’s thing, it was still missing 400 or 500 movies.  The movies are named correctly.  When I go to add them manually(files section, context menu, scan to library) it brings up only 1 movie option even.  I do see some where it provides a few different titles to choose from, but 90% of the time it’s just one.  Tried deleting and re-adding share locations, also deleting movie db and rescanning.  Still run into the same issue.  Any ideas?
