Shared drive on router broke cannot reconnect

A couple of times a year I go through this on my sony android tv. I haven’t made any changes although there was certainly a windows update. I did fiddle with some dns settings and the last sony update apparently took that option away unless you use static ip. I have a usb drive attached to my asus ax3000 router. I cannot get it to connect with kodi by any means. I’ve tried smb, ftp, upnp. Nothing. Best Iv’e gotten was smp refused connection. Usually just timed out. I’ve spent the last 5 hours trying and am giving up unless someone has an idea I haven’t tried yet. I can access the drive on my windows PC, so that isn’t an issue. I’m using Kodi ver 20.1. I do see that the network settings shown in kodi do not match my network. Kodi says I’m on 192.168.0.1 with a subnet of 255.255.0.0 when my network is 192.168.50.* with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. Not sure what that’s about. It shows a dns I have no idea what it is. Certainly not the one I use. starts with 103
