Currently, I have my kodi htpc connected to my AVR through coax. I only have 2 speakers and I don't think I will increase the number of speaker in the future. My AVR is slowly dying (it is at least 10 years old) and I was thinking at replacing it by a simple Hifi amplifier such as the onkyo TX 8130 and let kodi transcode the audio from movie to LPCM 2.0.

Is there a difference in quality between the audio transcode to 2.0 done in kodi and the one done in any recent Home-cinema amplifier (<500€) ?

Hi everyone! Many users, including yours truly, find the default Kodi UI sounds way too loud compared to media playback volume.

Since there is no setting in Kodi to adjust the GUI volume, I have grabbed the default Kodi UI .wav files, lowered their volume in Audacity, and created 2 sound addons — default Kodi UI Sounds lowered by -12dB and -24 dB (big thanks to @scott967 for sharing his knowledge).

Here are the files:

• Default Kodi UI Sounds (-12 dB)
• Default Kodi UI Sounds (-24 dB)
  

The sound addons work exactly as you would expect, I am very satisfied and I'd love to see them added to the Official Kodi.tv Repo for everyone to enjoy. I wanted to publish these sounds myself, but I'm not a developer — I don't know much about stuff like Github, security certificates, etc, and it's a bit of an overkill for me to obtain all that knowledge and infrastructure just to be able to publish a couple of sounds. So I want to ask any existing addon developer to publish these sound addons through his channel. Take all the credit if you want, I just want to share the sounds to help people solve this little yet extremely annoying inconvenience (loud enexpected noises, that is).

P.S. I am well-aware that GUI sounds can be disabled easily, but there are plenty of users who love the UI sounds but simply find them far too loud on their particular system.
