Keep Samba Connection Alive

Hi,

I’m using KODI 17 on a Windows 10 (Pro) computer. My library is stored on a NAS (QNAP TS 439 Pro II+). The connection via SAMBA works well except one thing:

After 15 Minutes the SAMBA connection is disabled by the server (NAS). In normal cases this is not a problem because at the first access to the network the connection is established immediately. The problem came when I press “Pause” during playing a movie. When I continue playing after e. g. 20 Minutes the movie plays a view seconds and stop then playing without any message or comment. KODI shows the main menu and everything works normal. I can start the movie again without any problem.

I found out, that the problem is on the NAS side. SAMBA is configured to close the connection after 15 Minutes (Parameter deadtime in smb.conf is 15 by default). I’m not able to change that because the NAS will change the parameter automatically back to 15. So my idea is to keep the connection alive from the windows side.

Has anyone similar issues? Is their a solution for that problem?

Alex
