NO VIDEO AUDIO WORKS

This just started happening, Went back and changed everything back to defaults and still have the problem.
Kodi 17.1 Linux PC Linux newest kernel. Nvidia video card. I navigate to a Video, Pick a movie and the sound starts
but no movie. It shows the title of movie in the upper right corner. Once I start pushing VCR buttons at the bottom.
It wants to freeze. cursor pointer starts tracing its self all over the page and the only way to get out is hit the ESC key.
