I don’t want apps initiating web operations except on command (I pay per megabyte). There have been posts from users blaming VLC for high internet traffic and Developers have responded proudly that it never does so except to fulfill a user command. This new “feature” is at odds with that claim. And, again, I don’t want “tools” that try to influence my decisions post-acquisition. Ease of update (though updating isn’t difficult) is your value. Remaining in control of my tools is my value.
