I am using the Simple Control remote (formerly Roomie) on my iphone with my Nvidia Shield.
When using Kodi v16, Simple Control automatically discovers kodi and sets up a default remote using ip control. Part of the remote functionality is displaying the (and I am not going to explain this well) movie ‘time’ information – much like you see on via the on screen osd. i.e. duration, where you currently are, time wise, in the movie, etc.
I am not able to get the remote working with v17. No auto disovery and if I manaully enter the ip address (port 8080) to the device playing kodi, the remote does not work.
I got in touch with Simple Control support and there response was:
“We were able to test against Krypton on macOS and Windows and it is working fine there. This is likely related to the Android version from Kodi. We follow the standard Kodi protocols for control.”
I am not able to get in working with the windows version of v17 either, so not sure if there is user error on my end or if the support guy I was communicating with is mistaken on them having it working with v17.
I guess, the questions are:
1. is anyone using simple control with v17 successfully? If so, did you have to do anything special to get it working?
2. is v17 any different in its use with ip control vs. v16?
